Inter-Parliamentary Union, ignorante sa kaso vs De Lima – Palasyo

Ipinapakita lamang umano ng Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) ang pagiging ignorante nito sa justice system sa Pilipinas kasunod ng kanilang resolusyong nagpapahayag ng pagkabahala sa patuloy na paglilitis at pagkakakulong ni Sen. Leila de Lima.

Sinabi ni Chief Presidential Legal Counsel (CPLC) Salvador Panelo, dapat mag-aral muna ang IPU para maunawaan ang kaso laban kay Sen. De Lima at mapagtanto ang due process na ibinibigay ng estado sa senadora.

Ayon kay Sec. Panelo, isang “competent court judge” ang naglabas ng warrant of arrest matapos makakita ng probable cause sa drug-related case na kinakaharap ni Sen. De lima.
Iginiit ni Panelo na patunay itong walang nakatataas sa batas kahit pa isang senador ng bansa.

Ang paggigiit daw ng IPU na dapat makibahagi si De Lima sa Senate deliberations ay tahasan at mapangahas na panghihimasok sa internal affairs ng estado at paglapastangan sa soberenya ng bansa.

“The IPU’s resolution reiterating its concern to the continued trial and detention of Sen. De Lima exposes its ignorance on the workings of the justice system in the Philippines. IPU must educate itself before displaying its total lack of understanding of De Lima’s case. It must know that De Lima was accorded due process. A judge of a court of competent jurisdiction issued a warrant for her arrest after a judicious determination of the existence of a probable cause for a drug related case filed against her. No one is above the law. Her being a Senator can not shield her from the majesty of the law. IPU’s putting to task the Senate to insure the participation of De Lima in the Senate deliberations is an outright and outrageous intrusion into the internal affairs of the state as well as an affront to our sovereignty,” ani Sec. Panelo.

Nawalan ng kuryente nang 14 na oras ang lalawigan ng Apayao at mga lugar sa hilaga ng Cagayan dahil sa tatlong poste ng kuryente na pinatumba ng hangin. Ayon kay Lolobeth Gaydowen, tagapagsalita ng National Grid Corpopration of the Philippines (NGCP) North Luzon, natumba ang mga poste ng NGCP sa Amulung, Cagayan dahil sa malakas na rainstorm.
