Pag-aangkat ng 150,000MT na bigas iminungkahi ng DTI

Iminungkahi ng Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) ang pag-angkat ng 150,000 metriko toneladang bigas.

Ayon sa DTI, isasagawa ang rice importation sa pamamagitan ng kanilang attached agency na Philippine International Trading Corporation (PITC).

Ito ay para madagdagan ang kasalukuyang supply ng National Food Authority (NFA). Pero hindi pa ito inaaprubahan ng NFA Council, ang policy-making body ng ahensya.

Sinabi ni Trade Undersecretary Ruth Castelo, kasama sa NFA Council, naka-standby ang PTIC para sa clearance ng pag-angkat ng bigas.

Oras na maaprubahan, inaasahan ang pagdating ng 3 milyong bags ng bigas sa Disyembre.

Ito ay ibebenta sa publiko sa halagang P27 hanggang P32 kada kilo.

Wala namang nasabi ang DTI kung saang bansa aangkat ng dagdag na bigas.
