Roque-Papal Nuncio meeting: ‘CBCP head at Duterte, maghaharap’

Nagkasundo umano ang estado at Simbahang Katolika na magtulungan para sa pakinabang at kapakanan ng mga mamamayan.

Sinabi ni Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque, isa ito sa napagkasunduan nila ni Papal Nuncio to the Philippines Archbishop Gabriele Giordano Caccia kagabi sa Papal Nuncio Residence sa Taft Avenue, Maynila kasabay ng selebrasyon ng Pope’s Day o kaya kapistahan nina San Pablo at San Pedro.

Ayon kay Sec. Roque, nagkasundo rin silang magkaroon ng one-on-one dialogue sina Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte at Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) President at Davao Archbishop Romulo Valles.

Inihayag ni Sec. Roque na welcome din kay Archbishop Caccia na magkaroon ng meeting kay Pangulong Duterte.

Napag-alamang nagkaroon ng isang oras na private meeting kagabi sina Sec. Roque at ng Papal Nuncio kung saan itinuturing ng kalihim na mabunga.

Magugunitang si Pangulong Duterte ang inimbitahan ng Papal Nuncio na siyang kinatawan ng Santo Papa sa Pilipinas para dumalo sa selebrasyon ng Pope’s Day pero hindi ito nakadalo at ipinadalang kinatawan sina Sec. Roque, Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Ernesto Abella at Pastor Boy Saycon.

Ang nasabing meeting nina Sec. Roque at ng Papal Nuncio ay naganap kasunod ng “stupid God” remarks ni Pangulong Duterte at pagtuligsa nito sa ilang doktrina ng Simbahang Katolika.

“In my meeting with the Papal Nuncio yesterday night, it was agreed that both State and Church should work together for the benefit of the people. It was also agreed that President Rodrigo Roa Duterte will have one-on-one dialogue with the President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP). The Papal Nuncio also welcomes further meetings with PRRD,” ani Sec. Roque.
