Pagpili ng bagong chief justice, idadaan sa konsultasyon – Duterte

Tiniyak ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na idadaan sa konsultasyon ang pagpili ng bagong Supreme Court (SC) Chief Justice kapalit ni Atty. Maria Lourdes Sereno.

Sinabi ni Pangulong Duterte, kabilang sa kanyang kokonsultahin ang mga mahistrado mismo ng Korte Suprema.

Ayon kay Pangulong Duterte, hihingan din ng opinion ang mga iba’t ibang grupo sa law profession tulad ng Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP), Philippine Constitutional Association (PCA) at iba pa.

Kasama rin daw sa kakausapin ng pangulo ang kanyang naging propesor sa criminal law na isang Atty. Dela Cerna.

“I cannot. It would depend on the recommendation of people. I have to consult not only the Justices themselves but also the law profession — so it’s by IBP and Philippine Constitutional Association and others. And I will consult here, Atty. Dela Cerna. ‘Yung sabi ko professor ko sa Criminal Law. Kaya mahusay ang pagkaturo niya sa akin, naging criminal talaga ako, konti,” ani Pangulong Duterte.
