Little Boy in Tears at the Airport as He Bids His OFW Dad Farewell Once Again

He promised never to cry if they allowed him to go to the airport with his dad—but his emotions soon took over.

For many Filipinos, working abroad is the only way to get out of poverty. Overseas Filipino Workers sacrifice most of their lives living away from their families while working hard for employers who would sometimes abuse them, or don’t give them the pay they deserve. They take everything, good or bad, hoping their families’ lives wouldn’t be as hard as theirs.

OFWs are often underpaid and abused, while their stories often go untold. Many OFWs wish they could work close to their families, but have no choice but to work away from home. Their families, on the other hand, have to bear with every farewell they bid their parents, aunts, and uncles. This boy was about to bid his OFW dad farewell once again, and the emotional separation broke the hearts of many netizens.

Facebook user Kim Reyes Silverio shared a couple of videos showing how a little boy named Yvo promised “not to cry” as long as they tag him along in accompanying his dad to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). However, as they drew close to the airport, the young boy began to cry. He held onto his dad and wouldn’t let go. His dad, on the other hand, told him to be strong and not to cry just like he promised.
